Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a type
of massage aimed at the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It
usually focuses on specific areas of tension and pain such as stiff neck, sore
shoulders and lower back tension. Deep Tissue Massage uses slow strokes and
direct pressure to break up scar tissue and adhesions and release deeply-held
patterns of tension and stress. It increases circulation and improves lymph
drainage, helping to re-nourish tissues and remove cellular waste products.
This style of massage may sometimes cause some tenderness during the treatment
and the following day, due to the muscles releasing stored tension and toxins.
